A happy re-union, and a short film for the old times' sake; the matter was as simple as that in the beginning. And then we started planning for an anti-cigerrete short film, with a rather funny storyline, which even included a scene which needed 'DOUBLE ROLE' & a couple of shots with special effects. The 4 member crew including myself, and my buddies Aswin Ram (Co-Director), Arjun Venugopal (Associate), & Abhinav Ramesh worked hard, and at the end of the day, captured the rushes, and even started to edit the special effects scenes. The movie was getting complicated minute after minute and then, BANG!!! Mr. Aswin Ram came up with a whole new concept, which changed the overall track of the movie.

And then we shouted in re-union, " RE-SHOOT!! " 

Now what you see here is the shortie, we shot the next day!

Kanhada: The Spectacles is a concept oriented art, which is divided into 2 parts to convey 2 interrelated messages to the people. This cine-set was aimed at the serious film viewers, and caters only to a particular section of audience. It was technically superior, compared to our first venture, The Kallan, and as an editor, it was a challenging job for me to give the right feel, and pace.

Partly inspired from a Pixar animation short film, this video was planned and shot in 15 minutes. I didnt even have a faint idea of how this video was going to look after the post production. To be frank, this was another result of my boredom, except for the fact that the video came out really well (atleast a 5 times better than what I expected it to be when I shot); thanks to the brilliant background score from TAAL, by A.R.Rahman, which easily blended to the moving images. 

However, by fluke, I got a video for my portfolio, and the file is closed!

The Kallan was my first work after getting into the college, again, a very honest one. Myself and my fellow directors, Vishnu Varma, and Lukhman Pambra planned and executed this video within one day of hectic shoot. The movie suffers heavily from careless writing, the use of low resolution camera, bad lighting, and a shoe string budget of Rs 200 /-.

However, this being our first attempt to make a short film, The Kallan was very well recieved by our classmates & appreciations flowed in from all the viewers.

The movie you see here is my most honest work till now, and will remain so forever. I keep them under my shoes is close to my heart, because the work reflects innocence. This was made by me, and my buddy Aswin Ram, when we were in high school, with no special training for film making, or guidence from books. We made this piece of cinema with a lot of hope, dreams, dedication, and most importantly, passion. Whenever I watch this video, I end up crying; because, those are gone days, the days of innocence & honesty. How I wish I could go to the past. I miss everything. Even you, Aswin!
